Gwendalyn Baublitz, or as she likes to be called Gwen for short, is a student here at Lasell University and is well involved in many different programs on campus.

Baublitz is pursuing an academic career in hopes to one day becoming an entertainment media personality.

Hailing from the small town of Dillsburg, PA, Baublitz grew up in a rural quiet area surrounded by evergreen forests and rolling hills, so nature was a big part of her life growing up.

“There was never really much to do while growing up in Dillsburg other than being outdoors, as it was a great way to do activities without spending much money,” Baublitz said. “Me and my family would often go hiking or boating.”

She also consumed a lot of TV and movies while growing up, with some of her favorites being “Keeping up with the Kardashians” and “Ghost Hunters,” which influenced her love for entertainment media and the paranormal. After living the small town lifestyle for so long, Baublitz dreamed of one day making it big in a metropolis like Los Angeles.

“When looking at colleges, I definitely wanted to go somewhere located in a big city. I love L.A., but it's too far from home and I never really liked New York, so coming to Boston seemed like the best choice,” Baublitz said.

Now an entertainment media major at Lasell, she is a student athlete playing goalie for the field hockey team and is an active member of the Lasell Community Television (LCTV) club. She is currently producing episodes for her very own paranormal investigation show, called “Ghosted,” that she films on campus. The first episode is centered around Karandon House.

Baublitz spoke about the connection she and her teammates share.

“The field hockey team was some of the first people I met when first coming to school, so I felt more at home here and they made everything seem not so brand new,” Baublitz said. “Practice and preseason can be rough, but having a group where you're all going through something together means you can bond over it.”

As for her plans post Lasell, she hopes to be able to secure an internship for a production company of some sort where she can continue to work on her love of media.

She would prefer for it to be somewhere exciting like Los Angeles, but she would be happy with just about any opportunity to work in the industry.

“There are opportunities everywhere on campus,” Baublitz said, “you just have to try.”
