Since 2021, the Brighton Bazaar, held at the Brighton Elks Lodge, has showcased local artists and small business owners by highlighting and selling their “art, vinyl, vintage, and more!”
The Bazaar is a lively Sunday market that showcases a range of artisans and other vendors and is a great spot for discovering local talent and connecting with Boston’s vibrant maker and collector community.
On Nov. 17, the market ran from 11 a.m.-5 p.m., featuring over 50 vendors offering unique items like hand-made art, vintage clothing, vinyl records, and upcycled goods. This was the season finale of their Sunday bazaars, which will not occur again until the spring.
With both indoor and outdoor sections, the Brighton Bazaar is suitable for all weather for human and canine visitors alike, since it is held in a dog-friendly venue. DJs from the Space Exotica Lounge Night, which specializes in retro, groovy music, provided live music for the event. The market is free to attend and includes plenty of free parking, making it easy for visitors to come by and enjoy a day of shopping and socializing.
With almost 100 vendors displaying their products, there were sure to be plenty of items for shoppers to love. Charlie’s Vintage, one Bazaar vendor, does the majority of their business in a shop that is open daily at The Rhode Island Antiques Mall in Pawtucket, RI.
The owner of Charlie’s Vintage began reselling vintage items in 2017, exclusively buying clothing from thrift stores such as Savers, Goodwill, and Salvation Army. His clothing collections consist entirely of vintage items, and being a vendor at events such as the Brighton Bazaar allows him to share these incredible finds, such as his recent discoveries of 1960s Levi jeans and vintage Coogi sweaters, with a larger audience.
Vintage clothes are not the only things for sale at the Brighton Bazaar, however. Art, jewelry, and vinyl records all appear throughout the space. With Love, Lauren - Handmade Crafts sells handmade jewelry using hand-pressed flowers. Sacred Flame creates non-toxic soy intention candles that have herbs and crystals in them to give them a touch of magic. Hanna Branco Art provides woodworking, engraving, digital, and physical art focusing on nature and educational designs. Citizen’s Crochet creates beautiful handmade crochet items, as well as packets to learn how to crochet for yourself. All these vendors and more were found at the Brighton Bazaar.
The Bazaar occurs rain or shine, so visitors are always encouraged to dress accordingly. The Brighton Elk’s Lodge is located at 326 Washington St, Brighton, MA 02135.
