Residential Life and Student Government Association hosted another edition of the annual Fall Extravaganza on Oct. 29 to celebrate the week of Halloween. The event included food, games, crafts, pumpkins, music, and a lot more fun.
The celebration returned after a positive reception of previous ones and delivered an event filled with activities to unite the community.
Some highlights of the event included pumpkin carving and decorating, for all pumpkins in shapes and sizes.
Other crafts included painting, whether on pumpkins, ceramics, or rocks, which has experienced a surge in popularity in recent years. Snacks were also available, including plenty of Halloween candy, cotton candy, popcorn, apple cider donuts, and customizable sugar cookies. Other events included involvement from other clubs, including WLAS, where DJs Jessica Shore and JP Calorossi played some tunes for the event.
Additionally, the Multicultural Student Union promoted its Rep Your Flag event on Nov. 16. The promotional event included a fun game in which students had to correctly guess as many international flags as they could.
Lyric Miller was pleased with the crowd. “I feel like a lot of people had underestimated themselves and ended up doing great,” Miller said.
I ended up getting a perfect score from the game, getting all twenty-nine flags correct.
Other parts of the event included a table where a group of Title IX interns including Amanda Stapin, Claudiana Barbosa, and Ryan Ruane, were present. It was an interactive demonstration that included alcohol impairment goggles designed to show how difficult any task would be while under the influence of alcohol. It included simple tasks like playing Jenga, pouring shot glasses, and walking in a straight line.
One of the brains behind the event was Area Coordinator Faith Warmhold.“When I was planning this event, I knew that I wanted it to be big and involve lots of different departments and clubs so that students could have fun while also being exposed to some of the wonderful resources available to them at Lasell,” Warmhold said.
Her vision combined the aspects of having fun for the autumnal season and the interaction of clubs and students.
The reception of the event was overall positive. The Resident Assistants (RAs) who helped coordinate the event had agreed including RA Savannah Werner who commented, “It’s really nice to see my residents and other residents interacting with each other.” The event was a success in allowing students to gather and have fun.
