Adam Devaney, an 18-year-old student at Lasell University, was arrested on five charges after a car crash damaged property in Waltham on Monday, according to WCVB.
Police reported a white Volkswagen GTI and a black BMW M340XI speeding on Crescent Street in Waltham at approximately 1 a.m., according to the WCVB news report. Both cars crashed into private properties at 395/397 and 403 Crescent St., damaging a utility pole and the properties.
Officers located Devaney of New Hampshire and arrested him for possession of ammunition without an FID card, operating under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of property damage, and speeding.
Three other men fled on foot and remain unidentified, according to WCVB. A passenger from one of the vehicles was found and treated for minor injuries.
The driver of the BMW was identified as a 19-year-old man from Burlington and charged with negligent operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of property damage, and speeding.
Devaney appeared in court on Monday and pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Ian Meropol, the chief communications officer at Lasell University, said late Monday night that the school is continuing to investigate the incident.
“We are currently gathering all of the facts,” Meropol said. “The responsibility of all students to comply with local, state, and federal laws applies both on- and off-campus.”
