Following the end of the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, Tory Burch’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection channels the games’ spirit of athleticism and grace. Held on Monday, September 9 on the Williamsburg waterfront in Brooklyn, Burch weaved the main event of this summer into a striking fusion of sport and sophistication.
Not only did the designer hone in elements of sport into her garments, but she also transformed the atrium of the Domino Sugar Factory into a stunning aquatic atmosphere with aqua tiled walls and floors, giving the illusion of being both high above the city and underwater. This immersive atmosphere reflected the collection’s overarching theme of contrast—where power meets grace, and athleticism meets sophistication—bringing the duality of her designs to life.
Sleek tank bathing suits were a notable element of sport during the show, styled with an effortless drawstring karate pant. Subtle nods to sport were woven into the design, from jersey dresses with bold shoulder panels evoking American football to striped gauze shirts made of wool to mimic classic soccer jerseys.
The main event of Burch’s newest collection came in the form of skirts with malleable wire waistbands that created an arched curve, adding impeccable volume to the waistline—an unconventional and almost avant-garde design choice. In contrast, slim flecked wool trousers, falling elegantly over peep-toe pumps, exemplified the element of sophistication within Burch’s designs.
Movement and form were exquisitely showcased in every garment that walked the runway. A particular print that was loved by many at the show were abstract animal prints, featured on coats, dresses, and pants. Bold patterns are definitely going to make a splash in Spring 2025, particularly in the street style realm next year. The show’s color palette aligned with this year’s New York Fashion Week trends, featuring soft, warm tones of beige, brown, cream and blue.
Many in the world of fashion appreciate when designers evoke nostalgia, reviving beloved styles from the past. Excitement peaked when Burch’s iconic Reva ballet flat—first launched in 2006—made a surprise appearance. This time around the designer elevated the design with a peep toe moment around the front of the shoe. The shoe holds personal significance to the designer, as it is named after Burch’s mother.
The show featured many more accessories that highlighted the brand’s persona. The pierced bag stands out with its minimalist design, free from logos or branding. It’s sleek flat oval silhouette gives off a futuristic look, crafted from unlined leather that’s incredibly lightweight and soft, accented by a single oversized gold ring at the base.
Tory Burch’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection masterfully captured the balance of sport and sophistication, paying homage to the Summer Olympics while pushing the boundaries of contemporary design.
From sleek-athletic inspired silhouettes to avant-garde detailing, Burch’s creations were refined, offering a fresh perspective on modern elegance. As we look ahead to Spring 2025, it’s clear that Burch’s vision of athletic grace and timeless style will dominate not only the runway, but the streets as well.
