Stanley settles into executive director role

This past August, the former director of admissions operations and events, Emily Stanley, was named the executive director of admission. Stanley’s promotion followed the resignation of Yavuz Kiremet, who left Lasell for a position at The Bancroft School in Worcester. Stanley leads undergraduate recruitment initiatives while still managing the day-to-day operations. Stanley is also in charge of Lasell’s Blue Key Society (BKS), a select group of students who give prospective students campus tours and work with data entry for the admissions staff.

In her role as the Blue Key Society’s supervisor, Stanley helps student workers develop their personal and professional goals and helps train BKS Ambassadors on how to give personalized campus tours to prospective students and their respective guests.

Stanley is excited about her new role, saying, “I want to make the team feel supported and energized. I think something we’ve always done well at Lasell is represent the school with authenticity.”

Senior business management major and Leadership Team member for BKS, Noah Behrle, is delighted that Stanley is in this role. “Working with Emily before her promotion has been an amazing experience, and I look forward to seeing her thrive in her new role as [Executive] Director,” Behrle says.

Emily Stanley has been working at Lasell for over six years and has been with the admissions team since she’s been here. Stanley started her career in admissions by working for her alma mater, The University of Alabama at Birmingham. There, Stanley became a tour guide and found her passion in helping college students.

“Once I realized that you could help people find their right college fit as a career, I knew that’s what I wanted to do after graduation. I even found a way to make my graduate degree relevant to admission by studying the campus tour from a sociological lens,” said Stanley.

Stanley is also an adjunct faculty member, teaching a sociology course and first-year seminars. This gives her an amazing opportunity to reconnect with students she had helped during the admissions process, as well as meet the students she was not able to in her previous position.

Tony Percuoco ’14, the Office Manager for the Undergraduate Admissions Office in Hamel House, works closely with Stanley, helping her plan group tours, assisting in creating the schedule for BKS, and working with the Lasell community as a point person for admissions events.

Regarding Emily Stanley’s new position, Percuoco says, “I am pleased that Emily has taken over as Executive Director of Admission! I was hoping that she would take on the role, as she would be the most natural successor. You can tell that she’s so passionate about higher ed and that she loves what she does”.

Stanley’s leadership in the Undergraduate Admission Office and with the Blue Key Society makes her the perfect person to fill the role of Executive Director of Admission in the eyes of her coworkers, peers, and students that she works with.

Her dedication to the Lasell community can be seen in her interactions with prospective students, her own experiences as a tour guide, and now with an even broader community in higher education with her new role.
